$5 or Less Pantry Building Challenge: September 9th, 2015

Did  you miss me?  I missed you all ... it's good to be back!

So, how have you been doing with our $5 or Less Pantry Building Challenge?

Here's what I added to my pantry for  $5 plus tax  last week ...

... shelf stable milk!  I found it at a Dollar Tree store and of course it was $1 per carton.

I'll save these and use them during those times when we lose power due to wind, storms or ice, which usually happens 1- 2 times a year.  With an expiration date of June, 2016 I'll be sure to use it before it expires.

What did you add to your pantry this week for $5 or Less?

  5. yes, we missed you! I haven't had that brand of milk, but I have had others. We are not big milk drinkers in this house so that is usually what we buy. :)

  6. Dear Patsy, I am very glad to have you back! I was missing such posts as this.
We have used long life milk (what we call it here) for years and I consider it a staple. Actually in coffee I like it better. It is very handy stuff.
My $5 purchase this week was jars of tomato paste. That's good for a lot of recipes. Each week I have added whatever I can.
I have a few things to do tomorrow and then I will hopefully be able to say I added quite a bit to my pantry this week. Love Annabel.xxx

  7. Yes you were missed and I also use the milk and love having it on hand. I cook with powdered but it is always good to have the shelf stable on hand for drinking.

I was gifted enough pears to can 14 pints so far this week. I would also like to dehydrate some more.

  10. PLUS I just found out I am going to get to can some pears as well. Seeing you guys talk about pears reminded me it WAS time for them. Both my husbands brothers that live close by never cans theirs. So my husband called to check and sure enough looks like I may be getting a 5 gallon bucket full. :-) Will have to do some for pear butter and some for pear salad.
