The Sewing Part of My Pantry Got a Boost Today!!!

A dear reader, that either volunteers or works part time at a thrift store ... I don't remember which, sent me the following items that they hadn't been able to sell.   (She had previously asked if I would be interested in them and I told her I most certainly would!)

Just take a look at all these treasures ... there's that soft pink flannel in the upper left corner, the red sequinned piece on the right, hooks and eyes, snaps, hemming lace, fabric rosettes, a miniature bumble bee, a balloon applique, earring kit, some ribbon ... look at that adorable little tape measure on the lower left hand side. All those zippers made me almost jump for joy (fear of falling kept me from it!) and in the center just look at the Modern Homemaker magazine.  It contains 12 actual lessons on canning food.  I can't wait to delve into it!

Thank you Kathi, it was like Christmas in September at my house today!

  1. What a treasure trove! The red sequins I would make into slippers. They would be ruby red slippers ready for Christmas. The little girl might love that!
I am sorry you are exhausted and its no wonder. I hope you get a restful weekend! With love, Annabel.xxx

  5. WOW that was soooooo sweet of her to send you that and WOW working at the thrift store. I'd love that although I'd probably not bring home a paycheck cuz it would be spent at the thrift store. lol

  6. My favorite used store buy is the packages of seam tape and rick rack, thread and such! What fun it must have been to get all of this! To be able to see in own your hands, one of the many homemaking magazines that used to be so prevalent would be such a thrill! Of course the canning recipe will probably be out of date procedures but still to think another homemaker years ago held it ! I am happy you got such a surprise gift. Sarah

    1. Sarah, I haven't been fortunate enough to find sewing notions at thrift stores but you can bet I'll be looking more closely from now on!

  8. Very thoughtful of your friend to gift you with so many supplies. I know you will make something beautiful and creative with it to bless others. I was happy when this past week I found several bags of embroidery thread at our thrift store. I've been making tassels and was excited to have found supplies at such a bargain price.
