Outside my window ... it is a hot and humid day! The dog days of summer are here!
I am thinking ... that my baby girl will be 31 years old tomorrow. It seems like only yesterday that we were bringing her home from the hospital.
I am thankful ... for my dishwasher. It certainly gets a workout during canning season.
I am creating ... a quilt using fabric scraps! Stay tuned for more on this in a separate post.
I am going ... to cut out the things I need to complete another quiet book page for my sewing day tomorrow.
I am wondering ... if we’re going to have a thunderstorm this afternoon … the sky looks like we might!
I am reading ... the latest issue of Keepers at Home magazine. Love this magazine!
I am seeing … my pantry fill up with preserved garden bounty!
I am hearing … the ‘ping’ of the jar lids as they seal.
I am hoping ... to get to bed early tonight … I’m exhausted!
I am learning ... that it is very important to get all outside chores/work done early in the morning before the heat and humidity gets too bad.
In my garden ... some of the cabbage should be ready for harvesting by the end of the week.
In my kitchen …. My pressure canner is working over-time … 21 quarts of squash canned today and 11 pints of chicken broth!
One of my favorite things ... seeing the leaves rustling as the breeze flows through them.
Around the house … the twins came today and they wanted to 'help' me wash and prepare the squash for preserving that we harvested earlier in the morning. I pulled up two chairs, one on each side of me, and as I stood at the kitchen sink washing and cutting up the squash they proceeded to advise me, examine my work and offer all kinds of help. It was a walk down memory lane of when my children were that age and wanted to ‘help.’
A scene from my day … elderberry flowers from bushes growing at one end of my front porch.
