Sewing Day Accomplishments: June 9th, 2015

My plans for my sewing day today were to stitch up a pair of mickey mouse pajamas for my grandson ... only when I went to cut them out I discovered I didn't have enough fabric ...

My plans also included completing another quiet book page for the quiet book I'm making for my oldest granddaughter ... but I discovered I didn't have any more white felt which was necessary before I could add any more pages ...

My son asked if I could put a zipper in the mickey mouse pillow case I made for my little grandson last week ... but I didn't have the right size zipper ...

Can we say frustration!!!!!

So, I ordered more mickey mouse fabric, got out my shopping list and added white felt and a zipper to it and moved on to the next sewing project on my list ... which is THIS ... a quilt-a-long!

Week one's instructions were:  This week's assignment is SUPER easy! Take two scraps that are approximately same length*, press them and sew them together. Chain piecing is a great idea. Make a bunch of pairs and press the seams to the side, preferably toward the darker fabric. Be sure to use a short stitch length (I use a 2) on your sewing machine, so the pieces won't start to come apart when you handle them.

I delved into my scraps and starting matching up what I had and came up with the following ...

Week #1's assignment is completed and stored in this red tub ...

I'm ready for next week's assignment ... (I love quilt-a-longs and since one of my goals for 2015 was to make a scrappy quilt this project is perfect!)
