Daybook Entry: December 10th, 2015

Outside my window ...  it is dark!

I am thinking ... that I love these early morning hours, when it’s just me and the quiet.  It’s the time when I pull out God’s Word and do some indepth study, when I can collect my thoughts for the day and prepare myself for it.

I am thankful ... for friends and family, far and near that are adding a little holiday magic to my Christmas this year!

I am stitching ...  a Christmas present for my husband!  Shhhhh!   Don't tell him!

I am going ...  to start setting goals and making plans for 2016.

I am wondering ... what’s in those packages under the Christmas tree that I’ve been given strict instructions not to open until Christmas!   Now, just who would have put such restrictions on me opening ‘MY’ Christmas presents!!!!!  You know who you are!!!!!

I am reading ... Christmas cards that are coming in by mail and personal delivery!

I am seeing … our Christmas tree in these early hours of the morning.  All the lights are off in the living room where the tree (and I) are … and the lights on the tree are showing off.  They are casting mini spotlights on the ornaments that we’ve been collecting since we’ve been married.  There are even a couple from my husband's childhood on there!  There’s the ‘Santa’ we purchased the first year we were married and the ornaments that the children made as they were growing up.  There’s the homemade ornaments we made for those years when there just wasn’t money to buy ‘store bought’ ones  (These are so precious to me!).   You’ll also find the ornaments we purchased for our children for each of their first Christmas’.   Yes, there are a lot of memories on our Christmas tree; it’s like taking a walk down memory lane each year when it’s time to put it up.  These things hold a special place in my heart.

I am hearing … our rooster crowing!  It seems I’m not the only one up early this morning!

I am hoping ... to make some precious Christmas memories with two of my grandbabies this year!  They are coming to spend Christmas with grandmommie and granddaddy!!!  Yippee!!!!  (Their mommie and daddy are coming too!)

I am learning ... that you can take just about any pantry related situation to the Working Pantry Facebook group and they will most likely have an answer!

In my garden ... it’s resting!

In my kitchen … there is a long list of holiday baking to be done!

One of my favorite things ...  planning Christmas activities for my grandchildren.

Around the house … the stockings are hung for the two of my grandchildren that are coming to visit!

A picture to share ...  This picture needs a bit of explanation: The mail brought me a package from Australia this week from Annabel over at The Bluebirds are Nesting! I was so excited and was ready to tear into it so I flipped it over on the back to open, when what to my wondering eyes should I see but these words .... 1. Open envelope.... 2. pop parcels under tree and ... 3. No peeking!

Welllllll, if you know me, you’ll know that I am just a big kid at heart when it comes to Christmas and that this is a form of Christmas torture for me. But, since she was so explicit in her instructions I am trying to be good … and here’s proof!
