Countdown to Christmas ... 11/24/2016

It's November 24th and our Thanksgiving meal has been enjoyed and is over.  Christmas is just a few hours away from being one month away ... can you believe it!  Just for fun I thought I would do a Christmas countdown from now through Christmas Eve sharing how I/we are enjoying this holiday season each day.  For us, Christmas is not just about the day, but all the things leading up to it as well.

Are you ready to start this journey with us ... let's get started!

After the Thanksgiving meal is over I like to sit and do handwork while my husband watches football.  Today, I started this cross stitch project.

As you can tell it's going to be Christmas related.  I'll continue working on it a few stitches at a time until I get it done.  I'm enjoying watching it come to life as I sew each stitch.

Did you do anything Christmas related today?

I'll be back tomorrow with another entry in this Countdown to Christmas series.

I hope you enjoy this special holiday series!

  1. Last night I took down all the fall decorations, and put up some Christmas ones. I could not wait any longer. Tonight, after enjoying Tgiving with my MIL, and then my sister/family, I put up one tree in our master bedroom.
It's a 6', small diameter tree, nothing fancy. I have another for son's room, and we might do one in the dining room. The big, real tree will go in the LR/FR entry next week.

Christmas is my fave time to decorate!

    1. Tammy, it's mine too! It sounds like your home is going to be decorated beautifully for the holiday season. I love sitting in a room with the lights of the Christmas tree the only source of light in the room. It's almost magical to me!

  3. What a fun series, Patsi! I look forward to future installments.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving with family. I didn't do anything for Christmas, though. I had brought some handwork with me, but just wasn't feeling up to working on anything.

I will work this week on taking all of my fall decor down and putting it away and on Thursday all of the winter decor will go out. I will put the tree up on Wednesday so that it can "fluff" and be ready to decorate Thursday as well.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    2. I still need to do that too, Patsi! I'll be taking it down this week :) The tree will go up on November 30, to "fluff" and we'll decorate it on Thursday, December 1 :)

  4. Thanksgiving Day, I finish knitting another face cloth in between all the cooking. Today I braved the Black Friday crowd. I picked up a couple gifts but the main thing I went for was the flannel sheets at Kohl's. I have been waiting for a really good sale on them. They were $79 sheets for $19.99. The crowds were all patient and helping others find things. I actually enjoyed my shopping today. Paula in Kansas

    1. Paula, don't you just love it when something you've been waiting to go on sale actually goes on sale!!! Way to go, that's a big savings!

  5. I love that you are sharing your countdown to Christmas. I like to cross stitch but never know what to do with the pieces I finish. What do you plan to do with that one and how have you used yours in different ways? Thanks! Nancy

    1. Nancy, I'm turning them into miniature pillows that will be displayed in one of my cheese boxes during the holiday season.

  6. Took down all the fall decor after dinner. Put Christmas decor on the table. Changed the front door decor to Christmas. Finished putting everything in my brothers Christmas box. I bought a small tree and decorations this year. Had some things from after Christmas sales to add. I could not find my Christmas wrap so I sewed cloth bags and wrapped the rest in brown paper. It looked like a home spun Christmas and he can reuse the bags. I went to the post office to mail his box today. Only one person in front of me what a joy.
I just had some hot chocolate and it seems like Christmas is coming soon even though it was 81 yesterday.
