Looking Forward Into 2017 with A Working Pantry ... Teaser # 1

I'm already making plans for A Working Pantry for 2017.  I thought I would share one or two of my ideas each week until the first of the year ... as a teaser if you will ...

Here's the first one ... be sure and tell me what you think ... pretty please ...

A couple of times a year have a specialized class utilizing the A Working Pantry Facebook group. The A Working Pantry Facebook group is now closed and would be opened only for a specific period of time and the size of the group would be limited for each class.  Ample time would be given in advance to allow anyone who would like to participate in the event to have time to sign up.  When the class was over the group would once again be closed and all members of the class unsubscribed.

The classes would be free!

So, what do you think ... is this something you would be interested in?  Of course, I understand your interest would depend upon the class being offered but in general, is this something that interests you?

Your input is very important to me as I strive to make A Working Pantry more helpful in the coming year.

Update 12/13/2017:  Our first class, Disaster Preparedness, is full and closed to new members.  To learn about classes in the future subscribe to A Working Pantry blog which is where information on all classes will be posted.

Thanks!

A Working Pantry is more than just about food! It's about household items needed to keep my home running smoothly readily available when needed.  It's about keeping a gift trunk so that I'm ready for any gift giving occasion.  It's about a lifestyle.  It's about keeping my home and looking well to the ways of my household and it's about doing it all as frugally as possible.  I hope you enjoy what you read here.

  3. I am interested in anything you do!!! I got done with my 90yr. old aunt's lap quilt, now just have to package it up and send it to her. I am looking forward to stocking my pantry, started today on canning 10 pts of hamburger to give away in baskets, I will add a jar of beans, a can of tomato sauce and a little bag of spices and then they will have a convenient meal for chili soup or tacos. If I have time I may make a few table runners for different ones or that will be my project for next year to make them for the different holidays for gifts, maybe along with napkins and or placemats...Can't wait to get started, but now it is making goodies to share and send to kids! Love the games you made for the church children and helping the little one after the shots. Merry Christmas to you and hubby, Patsy! May God bless you this holiday and coming New Year! Nancy G.

  6. Patsi - I was printing out your free downloads (thank you!) and have a quick question. When you vacuum seal the candy you buy on sale, do you keep it in the packages it came in or unwrap them?

    1. Karla, I keep the candy in it's orginal wrapper, some do not, but I do.

  10. I'm not on Facebook so this wouldn't be helpful to people like me.

  11. Unfortunately, I am also someone who doesn't use Facebook (nor do I have any interest in starting). As much as this would appeal to me, I would not be able to participate.

  12. Yes, I would definitely be interested. You are the one who initially got me started on the "working Pantry" idea. I started SMALL last year with just adding extra to the pantry, making my own broth and stock, vanilla, herb and taco seasonings, etc. It's been a fun experience and definitely want to expand it - little by little - so I don't get overwhelmed. Thanks for all you do.

  13. Yes! I like the short time frame actually. It would be like being on a diet, but only for a week :) I am having trouble getting anything done while watching my toddler grandson weekdays (NOT complaining) but my mind is whirring with good intentions. January is a great month for me to hunker down; can't really work outside and the holidays are done.

  17. I think this is just another avenue (Facebook) to reach another age group. I told my children about this class and asked one of them to join it with me so that we can discuss these things together after you post them. She agreed!!!!! Me telling my children these things can sometimes come off as just another "mom" nagging moment. But information like this, coming from OTHERS may be better received!!!!! So, YES, Patsy, yes please!!!!!! And thank you!
