Weekend Assignment!

Before I get started with this post, I want to say a special thank you to Oma G. for her generous donation.  If you find the things I write here helpful and would like to help support this site/my writings a donation of any size would be greatly appreciated.  You can use the donate button below ...   (Thank you again Oma!  You made my day!)

A Working Pantry blog is a blog with a purpose and that is to teach you how to have a well-stocked pantry as frugally as possible.  That teaching comes through the things that I post and the things you share in the comments.

Over the next several weeks as I settle in and pick up the ‘mantle’ so to speak, you will see several new things that I hope will inspire and be helpful to you in your pantry building journey so stay tuned as I clean off the dust, throw open the windows and bring this blog to life.

When I had the Working Pantry Facebook group I always took Friday, Saturday and Sunday off from posting and I will continue that here on the blog.  It gives me a nice break and allows me to refresh my mind away from the online world.  Please feel free to continue to read and post your comments.  I will get to them as time permits.

And now … how about a weekend assignment (yep, this is a new feature)?  I promise it won’t ever be difficult …

Are you ready?

Go check your supply of antibiotic cream  …  you know the stuff that you put on booboo’s.  Do you have any?  Minor booboo’s can become dangerous infections if not cleaned and treated properly … so, how’s your supply of antibiotic cream?

Pantry Building Pep Talk for the Week!

One of the statements I hear most often when talking with others about keeping a well-stocked pantry is, “I don’t have the money to buy groceries and stock a pantry too.”   While I certainly agree that this is true for some, for most it is not.

Let’s see if we can find some funds in the budget for those in the ‘it is not’ category …

What could you add to your pantry by taking the money, or even a portion of it, that you use to eat out with each month?  This includes meals, lunches, money you spend in the vending machine at work, breakfast you pick up on the way to work, lattes, etc.

Add up the amount … go ahead … I’ll wait …

Done?

How much did you get?  This amount is above and beyond what you spend at the grocery store for groceries so … we just found you some money to help stock your pantry!

One more thing and because you asked ...

I am a firm believer in keeping and maintaining a well-stocked pantry.  I share my reasons HERE! I also believe that a well-stocked pantry encompasses so much more than just food.  You can read what I consider my pantry HERE!

With these thoughts in mind, and after many requests from readers, I’m going to start a new feature, the first one will be starting Monday, where I present a scenario that will challenge you and help you be prepared for the things life throws at you.  (If you were a member of the A Working Pantry Facebook Group (which is now closed), I did this on a regular basis so you will know what I’m taking about.)
