Thanksgiving Week!

It’s the week of Thanksgiving and all through the house ...

It’s time to start cooking, time to get the pots out ...

Put the turkey in the roaster and the pies in the oven ...

Peel those potatoes and make the stuffing …

I’m taking the rest of the week off for Thanksgiving festivities and a little R & R.

Enjoy the holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my U.S. readers!

A Working Pantry is more than just about food! It's about household items needed to keep my home running smoothly readily available when needed.  It's about keeping a gift trunk so that I'm ready for any gift giving occasion.  It's about a lifestyle.  It's about keeping my home and looking well to the ways of my household and it's about doing it all as frugally as possible.  I hope you enjoy what you read here.

Recipe: Angel Biscuits

I was asked for my 'Angel Biscuit' recipe by a friend on Facebook today and after I shared the recipe with her I thought some of you might like it as well ...

(Psst!  The college kids we served these to tonight kept saying how good they were!)

Angel Biscuits

5 cups self-rising flour
1/4 sugar

3/4 cup shortening
1 pkg dry yeast or 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast
2 T warm water (110 degrees)
2 cups buttermilk (I have used regular milk if I didn't have buttermilk)

Sift dry ingredients and cut in shortening.

Dissolve yeast in warm water and add with buttermilk to dry mixture.

Mix well forming a dough ball (I use my hands)

(This dough keeps well in the refrigerator until ready to use.)

Roll and cut as desired.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
