The Ways of My Household ... 12/11/2016

A construction project we’ve been working on for a very looooooooooooooooooong time finally got almost finished this week.  To say that we are excited is an understatement.  We started this project about 4 years ago … I told you we had been working on it for a loooooooooooooooong time!

Read on to learn more …

Note:  My Vicky Challenge Savings are added in at the appropriate places.

My husband finished the hearth this week and got the woodstove installed … Yeah!  All he has left to do is hang the mantle!  Just in time too, because the weather has gotten really, really cold in our area.  The wood heat sure does warm up the house nicely and will save us lots on our power bill this winter.  Saved: $484

We saved $167.59 using coupons and shopping sales for food and non-food pantry items.

My mom sent us money for Christmas this week and my husband used his portion to purchase a 2-ton jack and mine, well it’s being saved for a trip to JoAnn’s Fabrics!!!  I’m making a list of things I want to purchase in the hopes that Santa will add to my JoAnn Fabrics shopping fund!!!   Savings for us $100

We received $10 refund in the mail from one of our health care providers where they had over charged us!   We’ll take it!!!!

I earned a $10 Amazon gift card through Swagbucks!  Yeah!!!

We were given several large catfish and after my husband dressed them and cut them up into nuggets we added 40 lbs (minus what we shared with others) to the freezer part of our pantry.  Saved (catfish is $4.98 /lb in our area right now) $199.20

I’m on day 73 of my 100 Day Crochet Challenge.   I’m still learning new to me stitches and this week I’ve been concentrating on the Moss stitch.  I’m thinking this stitch would be a good choice for my first attempt at a bigger project such as a blanket or lap throw.  If you are a crocheter, what did you do for your first big project and what stitch did you use?

I have discovered Bobwilson123 Crochet Youtube channel and I am loving it!  Do you have a favorite crochet youtube channel?  I plan to join in with her Christmas Eve Crochet Party if possible!

We painted and did some work in the half-bath this week (We’ve had the paint on hand for a year) … Saved $90

Not working outside my home … Saved $100

Thus far this year my Vicky Challenge Savings  savings/earnings have been $16,776.17, add this week’s amount ($1160.79) and the new total comes to $17,936.96.

Now it’s your turn, what have you done to build up your pantry, care for your household or live frugally this week?

A Working Pantry is more than just about food! It's about household items needed to keep my home running smoothly readily available when needed.  It's about keeping a gift trunk so that I'm ready for any gift giving occasion.  It's about a lifestyle.  It's about keeping my home and looking well to the ways of my household and it's about doing it all as frugally as possible.  I hope you enjoy what you read here.
