Preparedness: Evacuation List!

In our Working Pantry Classroom I've been giving the class some 'getting them ready for class' type stuff to think about and discuss.  (You need to know that the class is on Disaster Preparedness so this question will make sense.)  A recent question I posed to them was this ...

If you had to leave your home immediately for a period of time, what would you take with you? You have 30 minutes to evacuate ...

Here's a list I compiled of everyone's answers ...

Bible
Pets, pet food and any medications needed
Important Paperwork  (ID Documents, Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Property Titles)
Water
Food
Money ... as in cash
Phones and charging cords
Blankets
Children’s needs and something for them to do
Baby needs
72-hour bags
Family pictures, photo albums, negatives
Medications and list of doctors along with their phone numbers
External hard drive (with back-ups of photos and important papers)
Purse, Wallet, Billfold
Clothing
Keys
Tools (Screwdriver, Hammer, etc)
Flashlight
First aid kit
Radio
Batteries
Toiletries
Laptop, Kindle or Ipad and their chargers
Something to read
Pen and paper
Paper products
Special Projects such as genealogy, etc or small things that have sentimental value
Guns and ammo, Pepper spray
Eye glasses
Sewing, needle work or some kind of handwork

Think you won't ever have to evacuate your home ... I know of quite a few people who once thought that too!  In an emergency situation where time is limited it might be hard to think about what needs to be done.  Having a master list would help greatly!

Can you add anything to this list?

Daybook: January 16th, 2017

Outside my window ...  it is an overcast day!  Temps are in the upper 50’s.  It really is kind of a dreary looking day outside!

I am thinking ... that running water is a most marvelous thing to have in your house!

I am thankful ...  my husband was able to repair our well pump himself!

I am sewing/crafting/crocheting ...  Valentine treat bags for the little people in my life!

I am reading ... The Forgiven by Marta Perry!

I am seeing … the blanket I am crocheting!  It is lavender in color and I’m using Bernat Blanket yarn to make it.

I am hearing … my dear husband as he hollers my name from outside!

I am learning ... how to machine quilt!

In my kitchen … supper preps are underway!  Hamburger steaks, sweet potatoes and cabbage!

A picture to share ...  the Valentine treat bags I stitched up.  I have more to do only they will have a black band around the top instead of the pink.  The girls will get the pink banded ones and the boys will get the black banded ones … and of course they’ll be stuffed with some Valentine goodness!  Finished size is 4.5 inches wide x 6 inches high.
