Photo Friday

What is Photo Friday?  It's where I share a photo from my week and talk about it.

This week it's about organizing my sewing patterns.  This is something I have been meaning to do for quite some time ... as in years ... and this week with kicking off my '100 Day Sewing Challenge,' I thought it was the right time to STOP putting it off!

I needed a notebook and some clear plastic sleeves ... which I had both of on hand.
I took the actual pattern pieces out of the envelope they came in and filed the envelope in one of the clear plastic sleeves inside the notebook.  This gives me a clear view of the front and the back of the pattern.  This is going to make hunting through my patterns so easy.  This notebook is labeled 'women's clothing.'  I'm working on one for 'children' and one for 'household' as well.

What did I do with the actual pattern pieces ...

I put them in their own brown manilla envelope and wrote the pattern number and company on the outside of the envelopes.  These are being filed in a filing cabinet.  When I've choosen a pattern from my pattern notebook, all I have to do is look the number up in my filing cabinet, pull the envelope and I'll be ready to get to work.

What about you, do you have a system for keeping up with your sewing patterns?
