The Vicky Challenge #4 ... 2016

In spite of being down several days with a TMJ/tooth flare-up and subsequent emergency dental work, I was still able to save and earn a bit ….

Saved $1.37 using a coupon combined with a sale at Michael's Craft Store.

Price matched groceries at Walmart:  Saved: $7.60

Purchased sausage on clearance:  Saved $3.40

Used wood stove to heat house for 9 days:  Saved (9 x $13) $117

Made 2 more cheese cakes, one for Super Bowl snacks and the other for Valentine’s Day: Saved $52.

Canned 7 quarts of turkey:  Saved ($7.80 per quart x 7) $54.60

Made valentine goodies/treats for children in Bible classes I teach and for all children in church using items I had on hand … value $2 each:  Saved:  (32 x $2) $64

Earned $10 in Amazon gift cards through Swagbucks.

Earned $50 through EBates.

Total earned/saved this week in The Vicky Challenge … $ 359.97.

Thus far this year my Vicky Challenge savings/earnings have been $1546.34, add this week’s amount to that and I've saved $1906.31.  I'm really enjoying seeing how much I save/earn from home.

How have you earned or saved money this week?  I would love to hear what you’re doing.

  1. Patsi you go! That is awesome! Our fiscal fast is over as of yesterday. I got freebies from the store with coupons and store rewards, today I used a $10 CVS gift card to get a 16 pack of batteries to add to our supplies and got $2 back so I will use that for something next week, not much great this week unless you drink instant coffee that is a good price, we split and stacked wood, I got some pretty good sized samples of pet food $2 and we worked for a friend shoveling snow and throwing down salt and made $320 I have been working on swagbucks and as soon as I figure out what I want to stock up on with it I will turn them in for a Walmart gift card and use it for the pantry. My life is never exciting during our fiscal fast LOL! I hope you have a great week!
    Blessings,
    Vicky

    1. I love your fiscal fast and and working towards being able to do one as well. So glad you were blessed to be able to earn that extra money! I'll be turning my Swagbucks into Walmart gift cards and doing the same thing. There are a couple areas in my pantry that could use some restocking and that's what I plan to do as soon as I earn enough.

  3. Dear Patsy, I loved your Bible Class Valentines gifts. Also I love your cheesecakes!
I am sorry you have had so much pain and discomfort. You did well to keep going. Your savings are really adding up!
I am amazed as for this challenge I have found out a lot of retail values of things plus found totally additional ways to save already this year that will help my years total. I love that we can still discover new ways to save!
Just now I am using figs that my daughter picked. We have had figs stuff with goats cheese, fig salad baked figs with roast chicken and I have made two big pots of fig and almond jam. Still more figs to go.
Have a great week and I hope you are feeling heaps better. With love, Annabel.xxx

    1. When I first started dating my husband ( maybe 15-16 years ago) I was invited to his family's house. I was young and wanted to make a good impression and took those Kraft Cheesecake mix thingies. The ones that come with a can of cherry pie filling. I may have let them think it was homeade... I finally started making a home made strawberry cake that is much better and truly is home made and they quite thinking about the home made "cheesecake".
