Pantry Challenge #17 ... 2016

Every once in a while  a reader will send me a sweet surprise in the mail.  Today, I received one from a reader who also happens to be a member of the A WorkingPantry Facebook group.  Look what she sent me!  Just look at those crocheted dish cloths!  I love them!  And look at those note cards, aren’t they just beautiful!  I have my own personal card ministry that I do and these will be so useful … thank you Maria C.  (The dishcloth colors are perfect for my kitchen!)  Your package and sweet note of encouragement made my day!

My to-do list from last time:

I didn’t set any and here’s why …. Two of my grandchildren and their mommy and daddy  (they live 12 hours away) came and spent the week with us … oh, how I enjoyed having my grandbabies here!

I did get a few additional things done though:

I started a jar of cider fire.
I planted the rosemary starts that I talked about HERE.
I planted tomato plants that I grew from seeds.
I planted pepper plants that I grew from seeds.
Here’s something I want to get done in the upcoming week:

Start a jar of citrus vinegar using dehydrated lemons I have on hand.

Now it’s your turn, what have you done to build up your pantry or live frugally this week?

  1. I finally added Panadol(paracetamol) and toothpaste to the pantry. This week I plan to make up lemon butter(curd) as I was gifted a bag of lemons from our neighbour. I need to build up the loo paper. I've been making sure the veges have been tied up properly to make sure I get the best yield.

    1. Jane, I had to google paracetamol as I didn't know what it was. Acetaminophen is something we keep in the medicinal part of our pantry too! Congrats on the lemons, I love lemon curd!

  2. I had a better week this week. I found a 2 liter jar and a couple of bag of unused canning lids at the thrift store. We sold some tires we don't need and put that money towards a case of beans for the pantry. Might not sound like much, but it is progress!

    1. hiproofbarn, sounds like you made some wise choices that enabled you to add to your pantry. A whole case of beans is a pretty good 'add' to the pantry! Way to go!

  3. Maria did a beautiful job of those dish cloths! Like Jane I added paracetamol to my pantry plus some other medical supplies. I made a lot of soup and did some bulk cooking. And I found a beautiful potted tree on the side of the road... a whole standard Ficus tree. It would be worth a fortune in a nursery and it took my husband and his van to get it home but I love it! Happy day!
I hope this week has been good for you too Patsy. xxx

    1. Annabel, a whole Ficus tree!!!! Yeah for you!!! We are in our busy season of planting and early harvesting. We will focus on building up our pantry through what we can grow over the next several months ... busy times ahead!
