My 100 Day Sewing Challenge #16

I got to sew 2 days for at least 15 minutes each last week!!!!  This puts me at 33 days!!!!

Here's what I worked on ...

... on the left are 2 sets of Christmas pillow cases I'm stitching up and on the right is the small quilt I'm quilting.

I sure would like to finish both of these projects this next week!!!

What have you been sewing?

  1. They all look so cute, Patsi. I finally stitched up two pillow covers for some plain pillows in our 5th wheel and I have two more to stitch and stuff plus I bought some insulbrite to make potholders for the trailer and house. I think my sewing mojo got tired of being on vacation, still waiting for the stitching mojo to come back, but I have put another cross stitch freebie on my blog. Hugs, Sandy

  2. Lovely work Miss Patsy. I have been finishing off some Christmas gift. I finished off two patchwork pot holders and edged a kitchen towel. I made a quilted table runner and matching cotton table napkins. I am about one third of the way through a cot size crocheted blanket. I have two Christmas gifts to complete and I have Christmas covered. There is are two Birthdays just before Christmas and one on Christmas Day. Two Birthdays follow in early January and one in February. The 25/12 present is complete as is one of those just before Christmas Birthdays. I still have a few more to get organised before the hectic time of Christmas hits.

    1. Jane, you have been one busy woman! We have birthdays in November and December so the next 2 months are going to be a time of busy gift giving! We're at a good place as far as Christmas and the birthdays go so I'm ready to enjoy the holiday season.

  3. I love the quilt. Are you machine quilting? If so, do you have any tips that keep it flat and not getting scrunched up on the back? That's what happened the last time I tried to do that, so it was very discouraging.

    1. Becky, thank you and yes, I am machine quilting it. I am totally self-taught when it comes to quilting and machine quilting so take my tip with this knowledge in mind. I find when machine quilting that it helps me to pin the 3 layers together with quilting safety pins about every 6 -8 inches. Then I start quilting in the middle of the quilt and work outward being careful to keep all three layers flat and free of creases that could pucker if caught in the stitching. Thus far I've only been brave enough to quilt using a straight stitch but do plan to branch out into designs. I hope this helps!

  4. I use 505 temporary spray baste instead of pinning! It keeps all three layers smooth and can be repositioned if necessary. Saves me so much time and aggravation! Here's a photo of the most recent quilt I made using the spray baste:
