My 100 Day Sewing Challenge #21

Over the holidays I was able to sew on eight different days for at least 15 minutes each day!

That puts me at 54 days!  I've reached and gone a little beyond the half-way mark!!!

Here's what I worked on ...

These are 2 of the 4 pillowcases I'm working on for the pillows on our bed ...

... and these diapers for the baby doll that 'Santa's Elves' brought the little girl of the twins that stayed with us over Christmas.    The diapers are made out of flannel and have a velcro closing in front.  I promised the little girl I would make her doll some diapers, a diaper bag and an outfit. One down, two to go!!!

(Can you see the scallop stitching I put on the diapers? They are so cute!)

I also worked on the mystery quilt I'm doing but didn't take any pictures.

What have you been sewing?

    1. Debbie, the little girl asked me Sunday if I had made them yet. The next time she asks, I'll be able to tell her that I have! They were quite easy and quick!

  2. I love the doll diapers -I just might have to try them! I have lost track of the hours I have on my sewing challenge Patsy but it has helped me! I made a hooded towel for my grandson in December. He has outgrown his old one. I have sewed my husband's jean pocket again on his flannel jeans this morning making sure I covered the whole pocket this time. I also made two washcloths out of the half of the handtowel I used for the hooded towel. Have a great day!

  3. Dear Patsy,
The fabric for your pillowcases is so pretty. The diapers are so cute, I can just see a little girl tending to her babies!
I have a set of cat coasters cut out for a friend's birthday gift. I've joined in Annabel's craft challenge and need to decide on my first page for John's quiet book so I can get started on that.

    1. Kelsey, I'm looking forward to Annabel's craft challenge too! I still have to stitch up a dress for the doll and whip up a diaper bag and then it will be done. I love to see little girls tending to their baby dolls too, it seems that it is not a very popular thing right now. I see little girls with more of the non-baby doll type dolls than I do the baby doll dolls.

  4. Patsy, love the pillow cases and the diapers. Wanted to thank you for posting your 100 day sewing challenges. It has inspired me to clean and oil up my sewing machine after several years of idleness. This plan made me feel it is possible, along with knitting and crocheting, and everything else! that I can squeeze in some sewing too. Jean

    1. Jean, I've found for me that at least 15 minutes at a time makes me feel like I'm moving toward the completion of a project but doesn't overwhelm me when I don't have time to do more ... which is quite often during busy times of the year!

  5. So cute! I need to try the sewing challenge,I can't seem to get motivated. Last year we sold our house in one day, so packed up quickly and then have been remodeling this new one. I had a bunch of projects partially done before the move. Due to the disarray I bought a hook and yarn and then became crochet addicted. My sewing is now all sorted out and all pieces found so I have no excuse to not get back to it. But I LOVE to crochet!!

    2. Couldn't be any easier! I cut a double thickness of a 7-/2" square of flannel. Then I curve the corners and use an overcast itch to finish sh the edges! That"'s it!!!

  9. As I sew almost everyday for my job sewing is not a challenge for me but I love to see what you are working on or have worked on. I rarely get to sew for myself, so I always have little projects tucked away. Right now it is reusable bowl covers, micro wave bowl covers, art pillows. Things that use up scraps and also use up things I find at goodwill.

    1. Out My Window, I've made several reusable bowl covers, they are just so handy. Hmmm, if my job was to sew all day, I probably would look at sewing differently too!

  10. I love the fabric fro your pillow cases! And the doll diapers are adorable!!

I'm still working on my plans for this month (& year), but I really want to set aside a specific sewing day. So much to do....
I remind myself of when my mom was still alive & living here. She'd be in her room and it would be really quiet so I'd go peek in and see if she was okay. She'd have yarn and patterns spread out all over her lap, chair arms, side table, etc. I'd say hello and ask what she was doing. She'd reply, "I'm very very busy! There's so much to do. Very busy." It still makes me smile to think about it.

  11. The diapers are adorable! I have an embarrassment of riches as far as sewing right now--I was given TWO Brother machines. I thought, what am I gonna do with two of them? Then I realized that I can finally work on the big projects I have always wanted to make, but kept having to put off, due to having to dismantle them constantly so I can do all the little sewing jobs (hemming, patching, etc) that need to be done. Now I can set up one machine for the big projects (first one will be a king sized comforter for my bed), and keep the other machine for anything else that come along each week. I am working on making my own 100 day sewing challenge for the year! Your blog is *ahem* SEW INSPIRING!

  12. I cut out two balloon covers before Christmas. Yesterday I wizzed them bot up in about 15 minutes. They will be in the mail and off to their new owners tomorrow. I plan on cutting out some soup bowl holders and getting these sewn up very soon.

    1. Jane, the balloon covers that you do are so cute and such a good idea. I had never heard of these until you told me about them. I hope you will share a picture of both your balloon covers and soup bowl holders.

  13. Hi! I just want to say thank you for getting me started on the 15 minute day challenge. I have done 61 days and that is more accomplished than I probably would have without the challenge! Nancy
