Valentine Treats 2018 Tutorial

I had a reader to request a tutorial on how I made the valentine treats from yesterday's post.

Here you go ... they are so simple to make and quick too!

I started out with a heart shaped foam heart (Purchased at a craft store several weeks back with a 40% off coupon.).

I cut out these teardrop shaped 'leaves' from a piece of green foam that I had on hand.  I didn't have a pattern.

Place the 'leaves' on the heart.

Add the squiggly eyes.  I had these on hand also.

Draw on a lopsided smile with a sharpie.

Add a ribbon.  Yes, I had the ribbon on hand too!

I added a small bag of treats to the back of each and packaged them up!

Note:  I glued everything down with a hot glue gun.

I hope this helps!

  1. Thanks. Tutorials always help!

and the treat bag attached has what things in them...candy or home baked cookies or toys? <3

    1. Laurie, I included 3 small pieces of individually wrapped chocolate candy and a $5 McDonalds gift card. Any of the things you mentioned would work.

  2. Oh that helps a lot. Thank you! Seeing the granddaughters Fri so will get candy hopefully on clearance Thurs! I am sure they will love it ANY time!

    1. I just wanted to let you know I made the strawberry hearts today. I think they turned out really cute! And yes I am surprised- I have NO artist talent! I practiced the mouth on paper 20 time before I bit the bullet and put it on foam- haha. I am sure the girls will love them!

  3. You are extremely creative. Those look super cute. I'm sure the kids will love them.

    1. Thank you Becky! Actually, the idea came after I looked at several different things on Pinterest. I took what I had and came up with the end product.
