Financial Preparedness: My Little Cottage Industry is Open!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, one of my goals for 2018 is to develop secondary streams of income.  Today, I am taking a giant step in that direction by opening my little cottage industry, Pillowcases by Patsi.

Here's where you will find it ...

  2. Well done Patsy and congratulations. On BOTH of your income streams! Really we just must do this. I have found it hard as I am not naturally good at selling. I made it a goal this year to sell things that come my way or re sell. I had an easy $100 sale a few weeks ago. Now I was given a heap of designer jeans and I plan to sell those in a week or two. I googles the prices. I think I can get a couple of hundred dollars for them. Then I am up for a free phone upgrade. I am selling my old phone and I asked around the family if anyone has old unwanted phones laying around... I was given three. So I will have four phones to sell. I think I will do quite well from this also. So this is my start!
I think your pillowcases are just beautiful and will do well. And I think that the work you do for the blog and running the classes is enormous and that if everyone contributes a small amount this would add up to a big help to you. I have looked recently at different online courses, from craft to preparedness and they are expensive! You do it all for free!
We are thinking of other ways we can increase our own income streams plus bartering and also our support systems. I know this is what we are meant to do!
    Have a good weekend! xxx

    1. Annabel, I'm not naturally good at selling either but as you are finding out there are several different ways selling can be accomplished. Thank you for your encouragement, it means so much to me.

  3. Congratulations and best wishes for your success!!!
Today was our regular payday (every two weeks) and I again zero-ed out our checking account from the previous two weeks. Half went into savings and half went to pay down debt. I was bowled over to see that in just two weeks time, we added an extra $500+ to each of those two goals using this as well as doing the same with other income that wasn’t his regular paycheck!
Our savings account has never been this big and we’re excited to see it growing faster and faster now!
We are planning on Dave to retire in May of next year so we are in high gear to put ourselves in the best financial situation possible! We got a late start on retirement saving while we were raising our 11 kids so now, we are trying to catch up! Every little bit counts!
We continue to have low spend/no spend months for groceries and other non-essentials. As we eat from our pantry, it’s amazing to see how we’ve been blessed with “windfalls” to build our storage back up!
Hope everyone is finding success in working toward their goals! Just little bits can make a big difference!

    1. gardenpat, to be able to add that much to savings in a month is excellent! Our savings have been coming from our grocery budget too as having a well-stocked pantry means we can use those funds for savings instead of groceries. I like your statement, 'it's amazing to see how we've been blessed with 'windfalls' to build our storage back up!' Isn't God great!

I just finished sewing 2 bread bags and listed them in my eBay store tonight so I am hoping they go well too.
