Making A Strawberrry Barrel: Part 3

Part 1 can be found HERE.

Part 2 can be found HERE.

Here's part 3 …

In our last post I showed you the 6 inch center pipe that my husband had drilled holes in for worm composting, in this post we're going to add legs to the barrel and get it ready to set the 6 inch pipe in.

We wanted legs on our barrel so my husband cut four 18 inch sections of 2 x 6 inch treated lumber.  He did a cut out and let them extend 6 inches up the sides of the barrel which means the barrel sits 12 inches off the ground.  He bolted the legs into the sides of the barrel.

We turned the barrel upside down and next he installed a 6 inch PVS coupling sealing it in with silicone into the hole previously cut in the barrel.

Next he inserted into the coupling a clean-out plug gluing it in with PVC glue.

See the rings in the top of the clean-out plug?

Here it is with the cap screwed in.
We will unscrew this when we want to clean out or retrieve worm composting from the pipe.

To be continued ...

A Working Pantry

She looketh well to the ways of her household … Proverbs 31:27

My pantry is intentional, purposeful, simple, practical, frugal and what works for my family.  It’s the food items and household supplies that keep my household running smoothly ready and available when they are needed.  It’s my contribution to our family’s economy and my work-from-home ‘job.'
