Hurricane Florence: Entry #12

Food scarcity continues to be the biggest widespread obstacle everyone is dealing with right after flooding …

This was what the meat section looked like at one major grocery store chain this morning at about 9 a.m. EST …

And this is what the milk section looked like …

Power trucks are a common sight …

We got mail today for the first time since September 13th!!!

Our area was placed under a flood warning again this afternoon … 0:(

Roads that were open yesterday are closed today because of new flooding … 0:(

We've seen and heard reports that Florence could wrap around and her remnants could come back as a new tropical storm for our area possibly next week … NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

We spent the day helping to unload this truck of disaster relief supplies, to say that we are tired is an understatement!

I can't put into words the emotions you feel when you see a truck full of supplies coming and know that it is for a disastrous situation you are dealing with!  Every load of disaster relief supplies that we get in, no matter the size of the truck or carrier just screams 'somebody cares' and right now that is what this area so desperately needs to know!

Thank you to those of you who made donations after reading yesterday's post, I know you don't want recognition and that makes what you did so much more meaningful, but I just want you to know that your contributions are keeping us on the road enabling us to help others.  You are part of being God's hands and feet in this disastrous situation, I pray that God richly blesses you for your generosity!

We continue to be fine, (although a wee bit more exhausted than usual tonight)!!!!  We are blessed!

  1. Patsy, one of our cyclones did the same thing last year so I hope Florence doesn't come back. God bless you for the work you are doing.

  2. How wonderful that you're helping so much. Be sure to get plenty of rest and take care of yourself, and I'm glad you're doing well.

  3. You must all be truly exhausted and fed up by now! As a Canadian I will refrain from commenting on US political affairs but do have to say that I'm very shocked at the lack of followup coverage on stations such as CNN as to what is still happening in your area. If it wasn't for blogs like yours most of us would assume hat it's mostly all back to normal. There has been very little mention of any of the continuing floods & danger of dams bursting and I had not heard anything about the storm turning back and hitting you again! I pray that the worst is over.
I have been to the Carolinas a couple of times - once very long ago my family visited my aunt who was married to a Major in the Marines stationed at Camp LeJeune and as I understand it the areas around the base have been very hard hit.
We have had some very odd weather up here recently - out west in Calgary & Edmonton they have a great deal of snow - and even though this is Canada, believe me - that's odd even for us at this time of year! And yesterday we had a terrible windstorm here in Toronto with a lot of trees down and power outages but hardest hi was just outside Ottawa with a major tornado touching down - we get tornados but it's unusual for them to do a lot of damage in populated areas. It's a bit of a mess right now and over 30 people have been hospitalized. Mother Nature is not happy with us right now!
