Hurricane Florence: Entry #4

We woke up to a beautiful clear and sunny day this morning.  It was hard to imagine what was predicted to come, but come it has!

The wind has steadily picked-up all day and the first rain bands have started coming in. (See the water pouring out of the gutter on the right side of the picture.)  I don't know if you can see how the rain is blowing but it was almost sideways!

Our winds are in the 30-35 mph range.  Trees are swaying with the wind, it would be a beautiful sight if it didn't mean that one or more of those trees will probably bring down power lines and put us in the dark!

As of this writing Hurricane Florence is about 85 miles off the coast which is where the eye is predicted to come ashore.  It has slowed down to 5 miles per hour which is not good because that means it is literally going to sit on top of us and dump huge amounts of rain.  The last prediction for rain amounts was 27 inches in our area.

Someone asked if we were close to the direct hit path ... yes, we are.

Our power has flickered off and on today, but as of this writing we still have power.

I washed every piece of dirty clothing, towels, etc that I could find today and took a shower tonight giving my hair an extra good scrubbing  (I don't like my hair to be dirty.).  It very well could be a while before I can get another shower!

There are already reports of flooding, trees down and power outages and Florence is not even here yet.  This is one more of a storm!

You might say we are 'charging maniacs' and have set up several charging stations around the house to keep our electronics fully charged.

We are in good shape with our preps and have everything we need.

Within the next 24 hours Florence will make landfall and things will get much worse so please don't stop praying.  It gives us great comfort to know that so many of you are going before the throne of God on our behalves.

Until next time …

She looketh well to the ways of her household … Proverbs 31:27
