Hurricane Florence: Entry #8

We awoke to a most beautiful thing this morning ... the sun was shining, the wind was not howling and for the first time in 4 days it was NOT raining. The first thing the twins wanted to know was if we could go outside!

We still don’t have any power, house phone or Internet service.

The flooding continues and is getting worse. The rivers will not crest until mid week so flood waters are continuing to rise.

This area is basically cut off from outside help as there are so many roads closed.

Outside help is available as soon as anyone can get into the area.

Many have lost their homes or had extensive damage done to them, some we know personally. Our hearts go out to them.

Schools are closed until further notice!

We are fine and feeling incredibly blessed.

Please continue to pray.

  2. Thanks for the update, Patsy. Glad you are safe and how wonderful that the sun was shining. I still haven't heard from my friend in Raleigh so presume the power is cut.

  3. My sister lives in Burgaw, and like you, she is completely cut off from everywhere. She barely has any cell service either. I'm inland by 3 hours and apparently I'm the only family member her service works with. You better believe we are watching the river levels closely. Prayers for you and all of my family and friends being affected by this storm. We personally know so many people that have lost everything.

  4. Patsi - you must be close to me in eastern NC. I live in Jacksonville, and things were, and still are, bad here. We did finally get power back just a bit ago, but there are many road closures, downed trees, and much flooding. Please be safe and I hope your damage is not too great. Things will get better, but it will take time. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
