A Winter Sewing Challenge: Kickoff!

I like to give myself challenges, especially in the sewing area.  I’ve done several and have been thinking about what direction I wanted to go with my sewing this winter and decided to do a ‘repurposing sewing challenge.’

What do I mean?   I mean that I will take ready-made garments, old sheets or  other ready-made cloth items and give them a new purpose … a new life if you will.

Here are my guidelines …

Repurpose 10 items
Use ready-made garments, old sheets, etc
Must be cloth/fabric and involve sewing

New pieces of fabric can be used as long as half of the project is from repurposed fabrics
That’s it, those are my only guidelines!
I’m excited about starting this challenge and I already have the first project in mind … but you’ll have to wait until the second ‘Sewing Repurposing Challenge’  post comes out to see the finished product!!

The first weekly update post will come the first week in December.  Happy repurposing everyone!

Couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that I’m stuck at home and inside because of our miserable weather, could it? 🤪🤪

  2. I am in. I just cut out all the bodice linings for these ball gown costumes from an old flannel sheet and I am also using lace removed from an old can-can. Also pulled out curtain yardage I bought at a yard sale about 20 years ago for lace cuffs. I love reusing.

  3. I'm in as well. I have been doing this so much lately that it will be second nature. Can new bits of fabric be involved in the made item? I ask as I made Maddy a little romper where the bodice was a left over bit of fabric and the pants section was made from an old broderie curtain.
