Summer Series 2019: Week 8

You all have submitted a lot of good questions and we are about halfway through.

I hope everyone is reading the comments because a lot of excellent info is being shared.

Thanks to those who are sharing in the comments, it's what's making this series a success!

Here's this week's question and it's one that hits home to most of all of us …

My biggest struggle is adding more convenience type foods alongside my home canned vegetables and healthier foods. We are trying to eat cleaner, and money has been, and continues to be, extra tight. I simply don’t have much wiggle room in my budget for extras.
We garden and can and freeze a lot but there are times when I am too tired to cook from scratch. I take a few dollars each week and buy things to make it a little easier on myself but oftentimes my husband or daughter eats it and there goes my stash.
I hear you on this one!  I’ll share some of our convenience foods at the same time I’ll look forward to what others share!

30 Day Preserving Challenge: Day 26 ... Pears

What the late freeze we had in the spring didn't do to our pear trees, the squirrels finished off!  We didn't get even one pear from our pear trees this year!  But alas, all is not lost in the 'pear' department as a friend in the community asked my hubby if we wanted any pears, his trees were full.  Of course hubby said yes so, off we went with buckets in hand.  We picked up pears that were still good on the ground that had fallen from the trees and then we picked from the trees.

30 Day Preserving Challenge: Day 25 ... Peaches

We recently found a good deal on peaches … $.48/lb at a Sprouts grocery store.  The peaches were beautiful so we purchased 20 lbs …

Summer Series 2019: Week 7

This week’s question is one we can all relate to:
My biggest struggle is time. I work full time and have difficulty finding or making the time to can and preserve, etc. I live on a small lot in a development, so have no real room for a garden. I currently have 3 4x4 raised beds. It’s just my husband and we do look after my mom.
