What's Growing in the Greenhouse: 11/18/2019

With all of the unusually cold and sometimes freezing temperatures we've been having recently, we've been keeping an eye on the things growing in our greenhouse.

We have a heating system set up to come on when the temperature inside the greenhouse drops below a certain point, but weren't sure if it would be enough since we expanded the greenhouse earlier this year.

Come take a peek at how things are doing ...

I count 3 good size green tomatoes in this picture ...

Here are 2 more good size tomatoes ...
(there are other smaller ones growing, these are the biggest)

Standing in the middle of the greenhouse looking toward the front door, everything looks good, is growing and so far, hasn't been hurt by the really good/freezing temps outside.

(in this picture: 2 varieties of tomatoes, ferns, basil, sage, flowers oregano, chives, thyme, cucumbers)

Standing in the middle of the greenhouse looking toward the back of the greenhouse, everything looks good!

(in this picture:  ferns, pineapples, moringa, lemon trees, lime trees, tomatoes, aloe)

We are experimenting with greenhouse growing this fall/winter, we're learning a lot and keeping a close watch on everything!

  1. Wow! Everything looks wonderful. You are going to be eating yummy tomatoes while the rest of us eat cardboard grocery store ones! All the work is paying off!

Our first day of doing all the cleaning in one day went well and Hubby even had a doctor's appt in the middle of the afternoon. I am so thankful that we can work together on this because we have too much house for one person to handle anymore with all the going up and down stairs carrying things.

    1. Lana, we'll feel a little more confident after this winter is over, but so far everything is doing well!

I'm so glad that your new cleaning routine worked out well today. In my mind, it kind of frees up the rest of the week!

  2. Your aloe plants look beautiful and healthy. My granny gave me a plant when I got married. After 2 years i divided it but the 2ne one did not grow. Nothing I did made it grow. My granny said each aloe plant had to have a male and female for it to continue multiplying. She took 2 seconds to pick one out and add to my 2nd pot and within 2 weeks my plant had babies. I've yet to figure out how to tell which is which, but, when I divide I try to mix them up and hope for the best.
