I Let Out A Loud 'Yep' and Yelled for My Hubby!

Yes, I did!  I had gotten my morning chores done and was pulling out supplies for the project I was going to work on today.  I pulled a bolt of fabric off the shelve and laid it on the table to cut off the amount I needed … then I saw "IT!"  "IT" was a black spider about the size of a quarter (I am not exaggerating!)  My hubby came running envisioning me hurt.  When he got to me I was pointing and exclaiming about the HUGE spider.  He spotted him and took care of him immediately!  He is my hero!  Spiders don't usually bother me, but that one was so BIG and so black!  Needless to say that experience got my blood pumping and flowing quite well!

After I got everything cleaned up (Yes, that spider had to be cleaned up!) I started work on my projects for the day ...

I stitched up this cute little play dress for this 18" doll.  I purchased this doll for one of my granddaughters for Christmas 2020 with the intention of stitching up a complete wardrobe to go along with the doll.  I got the pattern free HERE.

I'm so pleased with the way it turned out.  I used fabric scraps to stitch it up, I had everything on hand to make it!

When I finished the doll dress, I worked on finishing clue #5 in the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt I'm doing ...

A surprise clue, (clue #6), came out on New Year's Day so I need to stitch it up in addition to clue #7 which will come out tomorrow.  All of a sudden, I am behind!!!

Our temps today were near 60 degrees, tomorrow they are supposed to be near 80!

Until the next time …

  1. Yikes! The spiders have found you, too! I asked my husband after he got all the Christmas decor out of the attic if he had been thinking of the huge spider while he was up there. He said yes, it did not leave his mind but he was not going to mention it to our boys and lose his help.

The doll and wardrobe is every little girl's dream gift especially when the doll clothes are made with love. I still have the Barbie clothes that my Mom made for me one Christmas and now my granddaughters play with them. So, you may be stitching up a legacy!

    1. Lana, after I could think, I thought of you and your huge spider! I still can't believe how big it was! That's so sweet that you still have the Barbie clothes your mom made for you, I hope my little granddaughter will feel the same way.

  2. I would have yelled too, Patsi! Spiders and I are not friends. I know they are good for the environment, but...

I remember one time when we were first married. I had come home for lunch and there, in the middle of the largely unfurnished living room, was a huge (to me!) spider. Well my husband wasn't home and I wasn't about to get too close, so what did I do? I put a glass over it and left the house! hahahaha! My husband took care of it when he got home.

That dress is adorable. I look forward to seeing the rest of the wardrobe as you work on it!

  4. Do as I do with any bug, suck it up with a sweeper. The hose helps stay the distance especially from stink bugs.

  5. The dress is so cute! I know your grand daughter will love the doll and wardrobe. Perhaps you could make a matching grand daughter and doll outfit too someday.
I don't mind normal spiders, but some of them are just too big and creepy. Glad your hubby came to the rescue.

    1. Kathy, I thought of making a matching outfit for my granddaughter as well. I just need to wait until closer to Christmas as she is growing so fast!!!

  6. Adorable doll outfit! Maybe some day one of my three boys (still young) will have a little girl for me to sew pretty little things for. :)
We get some really large house spiders that sneak into our home in the Fall. They are utterly harmless, but they are really unsettling. We had dear friends stay with us years ago, and we heard piercing screams from the bathroom! Our lady friend had a HUGE house spider jump across the shower at her! Thankfully her heroic husband was on hand to rescue her as well.

    1. Rochelle, I hope your boys give you lots of little girls to sew for, it is so much fun! Your poor friend … a spider in the bathroom, no thanks!!

    1. Marlana, thank you! When gardening season gets here I won't have as much time so I'm trying to get as much done now as I can.
