Every Bit Counts Challenge: August 12th

Today was a bit easier in the food preservation department, instead of canning, I did the following ...

I made cherry cubes!

I had some cherries in the refrigerator that I needed to do something with, it wasn't enough to can or make jam so I made cherry cubes.

I pitted the cherries, added them a few at a time to my Nutri-Bullet machine, whizzed them up, added a bit of water and filled ice cube trays.  Into the freezer they went!

In the morning I'll pop them out and freeze the cubes in quart bags.  I'll use them in smoothies as I really like cherry flavored smoothies!

(The Every Bit Counts Challenge is hosted by Three Rivers Homestead over on Instagram.)

Until the next post ...

  1. Great idea for the cherries, Patsy. I had apples that had seen better days so I made applesauce and froze it. The last of the spring planting of beets got pulled, blanched and frozen.

    1. Cookie, home-made applesauce is so good! Waste not, want not!

  2. Five one cup portions of hummus went into the freezer for today’s challenge.

  3. Well Done Patsy, brilliant idea
