Goals: 1/29/23

Welcome to A Working Pantry and today's post!

if this is your first visit, we hope you find something that will make you want to come back.  If you are a regular reader, please know that you are appreciated so very much!  I love the little community of frugal living, like-minded, pantry building people we are building here and am happy that you've chosen to be a part of it!

It's the time of the week when we look back at how we did on our goals for last week and then set new ones for the upcoming week.

Here's what my goals looked like for last week (how I did on them is in red)

Every week goals:

Zero out Sunday (Financial Goal)  Done!   $5.67 was the magic number this week!

Pull a card Monday (Financial Goal) Done!  The card I pulled this week was number 31.

Exercise for at least 30 minutes 6 days a week.   Done!  I actually got 6 consecutive days of exercise done!  Hoot!  Hoot!

Do some form of Bible study every day of week.  Done!  I'm writing out the book of Galatians and am learning so much just by doing this simple exercise every day.

My top 3 goals for the week were:

Work on the memory quilt I'm doing for a friend.  Done!  I'm getting close to having it finished!

Preserve the 5 bundles of celery we purchased on Saturday.  Partially done, I got 2 done leaving 3 to go.  I'm glad celery keeps good in the refrigerator!

Complete next step in the quilt-along my sister and I are doing virtually.  Done!  We still have several steps left to go and are still enjoying the antics that seem to naturally go with any project we work on together.

Here are my goals for this week:

Every week goals:

Zero out Sunday (Financial Goal)

Pull a card Monday (Financial Goal)

Exercise for at least 30 minutes 6 days a week.

Do some form of Bible study every day of week.

My top 3 goals for the week are:

Plan out our 2023 garden on paper.

Take measurements and decide on the correct size for dress pattern I've selected to make for myself, cut/trim it out and make all the notes needed in preparation for cutting the fabric.

Get grands Valentine goodies in the mail.

That's it for this week!

Let's close with a quote to encourage and inspire us ...

The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave.  Proverbs 22:7  NASB

Maybe we should give this verse some thought before we think about borrowing money for something that's not a necessity.

From the archives, I wrote and published this series back in 2020 ...

I hope you've found something helpful or inspiring in today's post!

  2. Hi Patsy. The link you posted for Facing Financial Hardships: part 2, needs a little help. After fiddling around a little bit, I was able to access the page by adding an ht at the beginning of the web address. Those 2 little letters must have decided to take a vacation. *Smiles*

  3. I have a friend at church who really needs a job. She’s about my age, I think. Maybe a little younger. I’m 61. Anyways she left a retail job to take a retail manager job at a high end store. It didn’t work out. I’m imagining her in this situation. I’ve been praying for her. I think it would benefit her to widen her fields of interest but she wants to stay in retail.

    1. Lee Ann, it's a very frightening place to find oneself and we've worked hard, as much as is in our control, to not be vulnerable to that kind of bondage again.

  4. Patsi, I really need to get out in my garden! I have been so preoccupied with figuring out my new diet and meal prep that I haven't been outside much. So I need to get out there.
I will continue to navigate my new eating restrictions this week and hopefully it will go smoother each week.
I also have overnight company this coming weekend, so I want to get ready for that too.
I look forward to seeing the dress you are sewing. I want to sew some clothes for myself, but with dresses I get frustrated because the fitting part always seems fiddly to me. I just inherited my grandma's dress form, though, so maybe that will help.

    1. Kelsey, I find a dress form does help but only after I've taken my measurements and compared them to the actual measurements of the garment with any ease added in. I find I get a better fit when I select a size based on the ease added in measurement than by going by the size chart on the back of the envelope.

I started gathering info on making seed tapes today. I can have these ready for planting when I get a break in the temperature outside.

      Enjoy your company!

    2. Patsi, I find the measurements on the backs of patterns are never accurate for me!
Seed tapes- what a great idea. I forgot all about those.

    3. Kelsey, those measurements on the backs of patterns don't work for me either. I'm always a combination of about 3 sizes, working with the finished garment measurements give me a much better fit.
