My New '100 Day Challenge' ... Sewing!

In this post I told you it was time for me to choose another ‘100 Day Challenge.’  Thus far I’ve completed two ‘100 Day Challenges’ …  (1) I taught myself to crochet and (2) I delved into the world of essential oils.  Both were huge successes and I found that I really do well getting things done and learning using this method.

My third ‘100 Day Challenge’ is a sewing challenge.  I chose sewing, not because I don’t know how to sew, but because I have several things that I need and/or want to stitch up and during this busy gardening season there just never seems to be a block of time that I can take to work on them.  So, I decided to make a challenge out of it!

Here are my self-imposed rules:

The 100 days do not have to be consecutive
Work at least 15 minutes each day

That’s it!

I don’t have a sewing room or even a sewing corner … maybe someday!   In the meantime I work with what I’ve got and what I’ve got is the end of our dining room/kitchen table.  Our dining room/kitchen table is long and since it’s just the two of us, I’ll leave my sewing machine out on one end of the table.  This will make it easier to snatch those 15 minutes each day.

I started the challenge on July 2nd and here’s my first completed project  ...

I’ve been teaching a ‘princess class’ for little girls ages 5 – 9 as a special summer series at our church on Esther.  As the finale, we’re going to have a banquet where we invite parents and grandparents to come see and hear what the girls have learned.  As part of the ‘banquet’ the girls will need their long flowing royal robes so that’s what I worked on … royal robes.  They were so easy to make.  I measured the length of tulle I needed, doubled it as in folding it over and stitched a seam close to the fold about a ½ inch from the fold line.  I then ran a piece of ribbon through the ‘casing.’  I need 5 and have finished 2 of them so far.  (I've decided I don't like the white ribbon so will be changing it out for purple.)

I also started stitching around the 'wipes' I cut out of some of my husbands old stained t-shirts. I still have several of these to do and will work on them a little at a time in and around other sewing projects.

This is day 1 - 3 of my ‘100 Day Sewing Challenge’ and already I feel good about it!

Want to join me on my ‘100 Day Sewing Challenge?’  Tell me what you’re sewing!
