pumpkin,
sugar,
spices,
eggs,
evaporated milk,
and a crust ...
that's all he wanted in it.
Yesterday, I made it for him with ingredients from our pantry using this recipe.
I'm not a pumpkin pie fan, but hubby is and this old-fashioned wife, who delights in doing things for her husband, enjoyed gathering, mixing and baking this pie for him!
What was his reaction ... YUM! YUM! Enough said!
Until next time,

I like one slice of pumpkin pie and then I have had enough but my family has never been pumpkin pie eaters. But store bought is terrible! My Mom made pumpkin pies all year round because it was her favorite. I love being an old fashioned housewife don't you? There is no one more important to please than my Hubby!
ReplyDeleteLana, I love being an old-fashioned housewife and no, there is no one more important for me to please than my hubby!
DeleteI've been buying Marie Callendar's pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving for years but can no longer afford it. I was given a number of cans of pumpkin last year and have been looking for a good pie recipe. Thanks for posting this! In the recipe article is a link to a flaky, buttery pie crust that sounds like my grandma used to make. I'll be trying both this Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteFrances in My Corner of the Trailer Park, you're welcome! Many of us are choosing to 'make it' instead of trying to pay prices we can't afford!
DeletePumpkin is my husband's favorite pie so I make it often for him. Instead of canned pumpkin I often use butternut squash from our garden which gets roasted and pureed or I get crookneck pumpkins at the farmers market and roast those. All the puree freezes beautifully . Because canned products contain too much histamine I use fresh and frozen.
