30 Day Preserving Challenge: Day 15, Cayenne Pepper

Here we are at the half way point in our 30 Day Preserving Challenge and today's preserving is so simple and so easy …

Our cayenne peppers are just starting to turn red which means I'm harvesting them in small batches.   Each small batch gets washed and laid out on this tray

… I took this tray to our greenhouse today where it will likely stay for the rest of the summer.  With every cayenne pepper harvest, I'll wash the peppers and add them to this tray.  Each morning, when I do my garden walk-through, I'll move the peppers around and remove the ones that are completely dry.

I'll add the dried peppers to a jar and when the jar is full, I'll vacuum seal it and add it to my pantry.  This is about as easy and frugal as it gets for drying peppers and since we use a lot of dried cayenne peppers, it's an easy way to restock this item in my pantry.

She looketh well to the ways of her household … Proverbs 31:27

My pantry is intentional, purposeful, simple, practical, frugal and what works for my family.  It’s the food items and household supplies that keep my household running smoothly ready and available when they are needed.  It’s my contribution to our family’s economy and my work-from-home ‘job.'
