Blogmas 2022: 11/30/22

Today has been a rainy, overcast, somewhat cooler day, not a day that we could continue working on our kitchen window installation.  

It was, however, the perfect kind of day to start working on quilting by machine the Christmas cuddle quilt tops I recently finished, and that's what I did!


I used the serpentine stitch and a walking foot ...


It took me about an hour to quilt it ...


After I finished the quilting, I trimmed the excess batting away, trimmed the backing fabric and got it ready for binding.  I ran out of time, but all I like on this one is turning and stitching down the binding.


I also did the quilting on this one, the picture only shows it partially quilted, but I did finish it after this picture was taken. It's ready to be trimmed and readied for the binding.  This one took about an hour to quilt as well!

Working on these Christmas cuddle quilts today just made me smile all over!  I hope you were able to do something that brought a smile to your face as well!

    I quilted a Project Linus blanket with a serpentine-like stitch yesterday. My machine is mechanical (not computerized at all) and is 22 years old. It is heavy duty and a good quilter. The stitch is not as smooth as yours appears to be, but I am satisfied with the results. I stitched over the ditch, wanting to catch both fabrics, as one of the fabrics is rather thin. It's a 7x9 grid of 5" (finished) squares of various fabrics with hearts on them. Have to think a few months ahead for PL.

      Frances, a heavy-duty machine is what you need to quilt regardless of how old it is. I have a couple of older basic machines that I'll be using to teach a sewing class for girls in the new year. You were wise to stitch your project the way you did, sounds like you are a savvy seamstress!
