Blogmas 2022: 12/19/22

It's supposed to get really cold in our area in a couple of days so I've been making sure everything is as it should be in case there is a power outage.  There is some uncertainty for the weekend as the chance for rain is in the forecast towards the middle/end of the week and depending on the timing ice could be a possibility.  Hence, the preparations ... just in case!

In and around piling extra wood on the porch and making sure all the laundry is done up, we did a few Christmas things as well, like ...

... made our annual Christmas fudge!
Since the weather is a bit iffy for the end of the week, we decided to go ahead and get it made, package it up and get it delivered.

A member of our church who is housebound, a shut-in, called today and asked if we could make him a sweet potato pie or a pumpkin pie.  The tween girls in our church made some at Thanksgiving and he was one of the recipients.  He told my hubby how good the pumpkin pie was that he had received and asked if he could have another.  Of course, the answer was yes so, I popped into the kitchen after the fudge was made and turned one out for him.

I got some of the Christmas cards we've received hung up, the ones with pictures are on our refrigerator while others are in and among our Christmas decor.

Since our home is small, I'm always on the lookout for ways to decorate for the holidays that doesn't take up valuable space.

This display suits my decorating style, doesn't take up valuable space and allows us to enjoy the cards at a glance.

Christmas is less than a week away and it's being forecast that it will be the coldest Christmas for our area in many, many years!   Brrrrr!

Everyone stay safe out there in this artic blast that's moving across the United States!

Until tomorrow!

Merry Christmas from us to you!

  2. Bless you for making that pumpkin pie. We are considering the weather too and adjusting our schedule as well. Losing power is one thing with only two of us but we are thinking about being here with eleven and no power. That is a different ballgame altogether.

  5. Prepping here in Wisconsin for 5-8" snow followed by 25-40 mph winds with sub-zero temperatures and wind chill temperatures around -20 degrees. Propane tanks filled, gas can for the generator filled. Made meals that are easy to reheat today. Praying we don't have power outage such as we endured following last week's storm (out for nearly 20 hours).

  6. We are wet and cold today and meant to have that arctic plunge over Christmas as well. I'm planning to run to the store to get more milk, some loaf bread and a couple of Christmas dinner items just in case we have weather that isn't fit to drive in. We've just checked that the bulb in the pumphouse is working and wrapped the outdoor faucets. I need to refresh my supply of water in the jugs over the next day so we'll have fresh just in case. Thank goodness we have gas heater and stove.
