Wow, Patsy!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe sheer tenacity that was required just to see this foundation stage through is just amazing! Your husband did a wonderful job!
These things take time, and just will not be rushed!! Hopefully, these tougher tasks make others easier and more enjoyable!

Rachel Holt
Rachel, 'sheer tenacity' is a good way to describe it!
DeleteYou are some amazing people !
ReplyDeleteDee, we knew what we wanted and we were determined!
DeleteLooks like you've got a good sized crawl space.
ReplyDeleteJoy, that was one thing my husband was adamant about having so he would have room to work underneath it without having to craw.
DeleteYou have a very good foundation.. and I know your husband had done a lot of work.. And you have a wonderful house being put up. So happy for you.
ReplyDeleteJudy, thank you, we have worked very hard!
DeletePatsy, I am interested in the timeframe of all of this house and land project. In what year did you start, and when was it 'officially' (in your eyes) completed?
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day. It's wet here in Queensland!
Regards,
Rachel Holt
Rachel, we started in 2007 and we're still working on it. We are paying as we go so availability of finances has factored in also.
DeleteI am impressed that y'all did the foundation yourselves. My husband and I have spent the past year building our own home. The foundation is one of the few things we hired out. We needed a very good foundation since it would be holding up so much weight with our ICF house. I am excited to see the rest of your journey. I am blogging about our adventure at http://anewhomeinthecountry.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteDawn, a solid foundation was crucial for us as well and with all the legal regulations there was not much chance that it would be anything else.
DeleteIt is fascinating watching the process. What a lot of hard work has gone into your house but that makes it all the more satisfying.
ReplyDeleteNanna Chel, yes, indeed a lot of hard work has and is still going into our house ... and yes it is most satisfying.
DeleteMy Grandmother's favourite saying was "where there's a will, there's a way" and I feel this suits you and your husband perfectly. I'm really enjoying watching your home come to life, Patsy.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the next episode,
Janine
Janine, that little phrase just about sums up this whole project... where there is a will, there is a way!
DeleteWow, what a process but I love that you worked so hard to make it your own and mortgage free!
