Sourdough Starter Day 2: Reviving Prudence

Yesterday, I shared in this post that I was reviving dried sourdough starter that had been sitting on my pantry shelf in a vacuum sealed jar for 2 years. I wasn't sure if it was still viable!  I also shared that I had named her Prudence way back several years ago when she was created.

This morning I checked on Prudence and this is what I found ...

Prudence is starting to bubble!!!  That's what she's supposed to do!!!

I still have a few more hours before the next step is to be done, but right now I'm more hopeful than I've been that Prudence just might make it!

I'll update this post later in the day after I do the next step and share what she looks like and how she's behaving at that point.

  1. So glad Prudence is alive!
I tried making sourdough starter for the first time when the pandemic started, but somehow I killed it. I haven't tried since. :(

    1. Kathy, I've found, depending on your weather and the temperature inside your house, it can be a bit tricky to get going. That's why I'm trying to keep mine alive!
