A Dishpan Full of Corn!

As part of my prayer life, I continually asked God to prepare us for what's ahead mentally, physically, financially and spiritually.  So, when we were gifted with 104 ears of Ambrosia corn this week I looked at it as God's provision, gratefully accepted it and set to work.

Here it is all shucked, desilked, washed and ready for preserving.  (I did the shucking and desilking myself.)   Isn't it pretty!

Here it is, a couple of hours later, ready for the freezer ... we cooked some for our main meal of the day too and it was delicious!

Another day of restocking our pantry is in the books and we are so thankful for what God has provided.

Sometimes God's provisions come dressed up in hard work and this was one of them!

  2. Oh wow, that is a lot of corn, and a lot of work. But won't it taste good this winter. I love how your prayers are answered. I need to remember that sometimes blessings are wrapped up in hard work.

  3. Wow that was a gracious gift. However, I would have kept about 20 ears and passed along the rest to neighbors and the couple of local church food pantries that are nearby. I love sharing God's bounty in my life. Difference of opinion. D.

    1. We share our blessings with others as well, nothing wrong with keeping it for your own use or for sharing it with others!

    1. Practical Parsimony, I recently made the comment that I was a blanching rebel in that I don't blanch our corn. I should have known that as soon as I made the statement that a situation would arrive where I needed to, and it did. Since the corn was not fresh from the field when we received it and since it had to sit in our refrigerator for a bit until I could get to it, yes, I did blanch it. That was a long explanation for a short answer wasn't it!!!
