Christmas in July 2021: Part 1

I'm in the midst of a busy harvest/preserving season and I definitely don't have time to think about Christmas ... but that's exactly what I'm doing!  (Sometimes I think I've completely lost my mind!)

I decided to take the month of July and do some Christmas prepping ... you know, Christmas in July!

Here's what I've done so far this month that's finished (I have several things in the works) ...

I finished a Christmas apron!

I purchased this homemade goat soap for gift giving (and some for me).  The scent is absolutely astounding!  I like to pause and sniff them when I go by where they're stored!

Are you doing anything in July towards Christmas?  I would love to hear about it!

  1. I love the apron fabric. I've been sewing aprons also using the same pattern. The fabric is coming from my stash. Some of the gifts I'm planning are the aprons along with potholders or hot pads if there is any extra fabric leftover, along with a mason jar filled with a cookie mix. I just recently ordered a cutting die for cardmaking that says "Hugs and Cookies" and a cookie to be cut out complete with chocolate chip cut outs. It can be used for cards and gift tags. Looking forward to receiving it. Drying herbs from my garden to make culinary baskets and using lavender from the garden to make sachets, wands and lavender melt and pour soaps. I'm also making "gardners soap" with the melt and pour which is just adding dried coffee grounds to the soap. Its really hot and humid here so stocking the gift pantry is being worked into my days, after working in the garden very early in the morning and preserving what has been harvested. Little snippets of time in the craft room add up.

    1. Cookie, I really like your apron gift idea and the card you're making to go with them will make a beautiful gift. You're so talented! I like the idea of the melt and pour soaps. I need to check into that option. It's really hot and humid here too, our garden is dying at a rapid pace.

Little snippets of time in the craft room do indeed add up!

  2. Love the apron! I have been picking up toy deals from Amazon and often for 75% off. Everything that I purchase gets recorded on a small notebook so I remember what I have.

    1. Lana, that's a good idea, I hadn't thought about that option. Thanks for the tip!

  3. I have not done any shopping as yet (and I'm not crafty) but it is on my mind already. If I see family this year (they all live outside of the city and I haven't seen any of them in nearly two years) I will give gifts to the little ones, my great nieces & nephews and then take consumables for my brothers and sisters.
It is the same with friends - we now stick to food or wine or books - that sort of thing so it makes shopping fairly easy. I will make my list by September and will check my supply of cards and wrapping paper and then buy things bit by bit. Doesn't hurt to plan ahead so there are no last minute surprises.

    1. Margie, consumable gifts are always a good choice as far as I'm concerned!
