This week I had the opportunity to barter this freezer meal of sweet and sour meatballs over a bed of rice (Here's the recipe that I use, it makes a yummy freezer meal.) ...
... for corn fresh from the field.
We were given well over 100 ears of corn which we brought home and preserved.
(I'll be making a couple more freezer meals for this family as one just doesn't seem enough for all the corn we received!) We don't have room to grow corn on our property, so this was a great blessing!
I like to keep these kind of aluminum serving pans on hand to make and deliver freezer meals in or for freezer meals for us!
For such a time as this we need to look for opportunities to barter or swap what we have for what we don't have or for what we'd like to have!
If you find this series helpful, please share it with others. If we all do what we can to help each other whether it be through writing, sharing, teaching, coming along beside each other or any other means, the world will be a better place!
Until the next post,

I always keep those type of foil pans on hand too. So handy. I would love to barter with someone I just don't know who!
ReplyDeleteI always keep cranberry juice cocktail on hand for my kidneys but it has gotten so expensive. Today we bought 16 bottles for about 70 cents each and it is our favorite brand. We also got Breyers ice cream for 1.25 each. And we picked our first ever zucchini!
Lana, you got some good deals, I like to keep cranberry juice on hand too. As for bartering just keep your eyes and ears open for possibilities, this one just dropped in my lap quite unexpectedly.
DeleteI love a good barter!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, me too!
DeleteI am like Lana. I'm so willing to barter but with who? I do a little barter sort of thing with my two children who live nearby and that works nicely enough for the most part. But I wish I knew of others who would be willing to mutually benefit one another!
ReplyDeleteTerri, it can be hard to locate someone, like-minded friends are a good place to start.
DeleteI can't get your meatball recipe. For some reason, nothing happens when I click on it! It looks delish.
ReplyDeleteGrammaGrits, I fixed it, thanks for letting me know!
