In addition to finishing up packaging the last of the fudge cups today, we packaged up scrabble as well.
22 bags!
We saved enough for our enjoyment the week between Christmas and New Year's Day; the rest are being given as gifts.
As you've seen food gifts are our main go-to for friends, neighbors and fellow church members. We start making lists and planning what ingredients we need towards the end of summer and slowly buy them throughout the fall season. Doing this means we have everything we need to make the goodies we want when we need them without breaking our budget.
We were gifted a jar of plum preserves today and a bottle of our favorite BBQ sauce. Both of these are nice additions to our pantry and the type of things we like to receive!
We had beef ribs for our main meal of the day today (along with home-canned pears and home-canned beets). When we were finished with the meal, I gathered up the bones. I bagged them up and put them in the refrigerator, tomorrow I'll make a pot of bone broth with them and add it to our pantry.
I washed up several gallon size zip-lock bags that had held scrabble and hung them to dry. Frugality is always in the back of my mind and when I see an opportunity to save or stretch in some small way, I'm sure to take advantage of it!
Happy First Day of Winter!!!
Until tomorrow!
Merry Christmas from us to you!

A Working Pantry is a way of life, a lifestyle if you will!
My pantry is intentional, purposeful, simple, practical, frugal and what works for my family. It’s the food items and household supplies that keep my household running smoothly ready and available when they are needed. It’s my contribution to our family’s economy and my work-from-home ‘job.'

That's the way to do it! I can't imagine paying full price for everything. We got our groceries today for the family visit ahead of the bad weather. We will just stay home now and prep. A neighbor asked if we had an egg so she could finish her baking. Her teenage son was coming across the yard when Hubby opened the door and hollered catch! They had a good laugh! I am thankful to live in a neighborhood where we can ask for help and share.
ReplyDeleteLana, I love the 'egg toss!' We have worked hard to build and be a part of that kind of community neighborhood! As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the best preps you can do. Take care and stay warm.
DeleteEverything looks delicious, Patsy. On Tuesday we had some errands to run in another town and, of course, we stopped at our favorite store there to pick up some deals. 5 lb bags of unbleached flour was $1.49, 5 lb bag of sugar was 99 cents.,72 % dark chocolate chocolate chips were $1.99 per bag. For our area these are great prices. Because we're in the path of the path of the storm and it's snowing here right now, we made all of our gift deliveries yesterday. Even in the snow the workmen are here replacing our furnance. We're all bundled up and have the pellet stove and two electric heaters running to keep us warm, along with long underwear and clothing layers. Considering the winds and temps here in the next few days we're so grateful that we're getting the new furnace before it starts. Cookie
ReplyDeleteCookie, you got some good deals! I'm so glad they didn't cancel your furnace installation and hope they get it finished asap. You all stay warm and safe.
