Chunky Applesauce Cobbler

Chunky Applesauce Cobbler

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a 9 x 13-inch pan melt 1 stick of butter in oven (I used an aluminum pan since I was preparing this desert for someone else.)

While butter is melting mix in a separate bowl:

1 cup - Self Rising Flour

1 cup - Sugar

1 cup - Milk

After butter is melted pour the dough mixture on top of the butter - do not mix or stir into butter

Spoon 3 cups of applesauce over mixture - again do not stir or mix in any way with other ingredients (I used home-canned chunky applesauce)

Sprinkle cinnamon over top and bake for approximately 30 minutes or until done.

The cobbler smelled delicious as it cooked.  Hubby and I decided that we would definitely make one for ourselves at a future date, as this one was made for someone else, and enjoy it with a scoop of ice cream on top!

Until next time,

  3. This looks delicious, Patsi! My mom makes a similar cobbler with canned peaches- I had never thought to use applesauce. My boys would love this!

  5. I’ve made the “cuppa” recipe with peaches, blackberries, cherries, and apple pie filling. Never thought to use applesauce, but it sounds good. That is always a good old standby for an easy quick recipe when you need to take to a potluck or a dessert to someone. Thanks for the new idea of filling. ….Vicky in Ky

    1. Vicky, it's the kind of recipe/method that I love! It's so versatile and uses basic ingredients. I'm really trying to focus on doing more with basic ingredients!

    1. Hi Bun, you're going to laugh, but I use whatever kind I can find that I can afford or grow. If it's a canning type apple, I just turn it into chunky applesauce, if is more of a softer apple, I make regular applesauce. If I were buying apples specifically for regular applesauce, I would look for Jonathan, Gala, or Golden Delicious to name a few. I hope this helps.
