Today's Christmas prep activities found me in the kitchen doing some baking! Come along and see what I did ...
These cinnamon rolls filled my house with the most delicious smell while they were baking!
Now, I would like to tell you that I made these from scratch, and I do have a really good cinnamon roll recipe, but that's not what I did. Because of time constraints, this is what I did instead ...
I bought two cans of Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls, popped those cans and placed them in these pans, then poured half a cup of whipping cream over the uncooked cinnamon rolls. I baked them according to directions, took them out of the oven and iced them with the icing that came in the cans.
I read about this cinnamon roll hack earlier in the week and decided to give it a try. Hubby asked to be the taste tester when they were done, so he got the honors. My husband is a good cook and recognizes when something is not quite right in a recipe so I knew he would be a good one to do the testing. What did he think ... he said they were delicious, almost as good as the homemade recipe that is normally our go-to!
Whew! That was a relief as these cinnamon rolls were slated for gifts!
Here's how I packaged them up once they were completely cooled ...
I took a whole piece of tissue paper and cut it in half, then folded it in half again ...
Then I laid 2 pieces of heavy-duty wax paper on top of the tissue paper ...
Next, came the cinnamon roll ...
I gathered up the sides of the wax paper/tissue paper combination, being careful to keep the cinnamon roll in the center, placed it all in a clear bread bag, tied it up with ribbon and then added these adorable tags. (The tags were given to me as a gift from a friend in Australia.) The tags were perfect!
Pictured are the front and back so you can see what both views look like.
Here's a close up!
I made up nine of these and can't wait to gift them tomorrow!
I really enjoyed doing this this afternoon, for me, the joy is in the journey!
Until tomorrow!
Merry Christmas from us to you!

DeleteOnce again you have knocked it out of the park! I am glad to hear a review on the cinnamon roll hack because we pretty much always have those cinnamon rolls on hand. When we see cases of them for $8 at the salvage store we pick one up so we always have quick treats for small group. Sometimes we unroll them and fold the strip in half and then twist it a few times before baking. They are a different taste than the traditional rolls.
ReplyDeleteToday we cleaned out the inside fridge, winterized the screen porch, got all the paper goods out and sorted for the family visit. We do all paper so no one ends up stuck in the kitchen doing dishes. We have a grandchildren's bar in the kitchen that Hubby made out of a $5 three legged table bought at a thrift store. We sorted through all the coloring books and paper and supplies there and got it all ready for the kids. We also set up a snack area in the dining room for everyone. Everything from cheese crackers to raisins to granola bars and I will add a basket of apples later.
We are on schedule and even a bit ahead! This has been a matter of prayer for us and we are thankful.
Lana, I'll have to remember the twist idea for the cinnamon roll dough. I'm so glad things are going well for your holiday preps, it's good to have our preps done ahead, isn't it?
DeleteI want to be a kid at your house this Christmas, what fun they are going to have and all the little extras are going to make it even more special!
Isn't it wonderful that we can carry our everyday concerns to our great God in prayer as well as the big things!
Your packaging is a!ways so beautiful! I have that recipe but have never made it.
ReplyDeleteGlad your hubby is a good taste tester. Good to know they're good. Have you ever made the one hour cinnamon roll recipe? Cookie
Cookie, I have never heard of the one-hour cinnamon roll recipe, can you please share it with me?
DeleteI would also like to have that recipe! Sounds great!
DeleteYour presentation is adorable!
ReplyDeleteBelinda, thank you!
DeletePatsy and Lana, There are so many recipes out there for 1 hour cinnamon rolls. I've never made them but they are on my list to do sometime in the coming weeks. I just searched for 1 hour cinnamon roll recipe. Will let you know how they turn out. Right now it's a toss up as to what recipe to use. Some call for 2 1/4 tsp yeast and others call for a full tablespoon of yeast. I will probably go with the one that calls for 1 tablespoon of yeast to 3 cups of flour. It's been interesting to read all of the variations. Cookie
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be the 30 minute yeast roll recipe adapted to cinnamon rolls. Having made the 30 minute roll recipe I would definitely recommend the lesser amount of yeast for cinnamon rolls. The dough is very sticky so that might be a bit of a challenge.
DeleteI used to make cinnamon rolls using canned biscuits, but it is getting harder to find plain biscuits. They are all "grands" or super big. So I just mix up biscuit dough and use that. Easy peasy! And delicious!
ReplyDeleteJennilee, that's a good idea!
DeleteLove those tags!!
ReplyDeleteLee Ann, thank you, they were a gift!
DeleteI love all the little gifts you're making and giving to people. Everyone needs to feel loved and remembered at Christmas.
ReplyDeleteLaura, I feel the same way and really, it doesn't have to cost lots of money to show love in the form of gift giving. All it takes is a little planning and creativity.
