Blogmas 2022: 12/23/22

Today was about finishing up the food preps for our Christmas ...

a made from scratch german chocolate cake (it's our favorite) ...

and 2 made from scratch pecan pies!

Later in the evening, around dusk, we heard someone holler 'hey' as they were coming up the steps to our porch.  Hubby went to see who it was and it was a neighbor bringing us this ...

Isn't the packaging of this food gift beautiful!  Inside are pieces of fudge covered brownies, YUM!

On a different note, our hearts go out to, and we are praying for all those being affected by the severe frigid cold, snow and ice sweeping across the U.S.   Many are without power, others have frozen pipes, some are experiencing rolling blackouts while others are struggling to stay warm even with power.   If you are of a nature to pray, in addition to all those directly affected, please also pray for the emergency personnel, linemen, etc who have to be out in the weather in order to restore lost utilities or to care for those needing emergency medical care.  It's entirely truth to say that this situation gives prayer warriors many opportunities to pray!

So far, we have not experienced these dangerous temps, but they are forecast to arrive in our area overnight.  We've done everything we can to prepare, making prayer an important part of our preps.

Everyone stay safe and warm out there!

Until tomorrow!

Merry Christmas from us to you!

  1. Beautiful food and package! German chocolate is one of my favorites too but I am the only one so that is a far in between treat. Yes, we will pray with you for all those effected. We are concerned about one son who will be here and them traveling north when they leave here after Christmas with two cars and two littles. They are in the middle of a big move from South to North and sometimes they are so task oriented that they won't stop and listen to the parents! Six years ago it was really warm on Christmas and we all ate outside on our deck for Christmas dinner! Now it seems surreal. The kids were all outside playing and the adults were out there with them so we just set up our two long picnic tables and enjoyed the day!

    1. Lana, prayers for wisdom for your son in this big move! I don't think we have to worry about it being too warm this Christmas, there won't be any eating outside for sure. Enjoy your family and your holiday! Merry Christmas!

  2. Such a beautiful post to read first thing in the morning and it added a smile to see your baked goods and the beautiful package of brownies. Good neighbors, for sure! I've been praying for those in this storm's way. East of here, on the route I regularly travel to visit with my mother, they shut down the highway in several places yesterday, due to numerous accidents, one involving multiple semi trucks, and in another area with an overturned tanker carrying some toxic chemical. This morning, the Today Show carried a piece this morning, broadcast from near my hometown area along Lake Michigan's eastern coast. My sister, who lives there, shared a video from her front porch, about 2 blocks from the Lake and you can hear it roaring. Praying for everyone's safety. Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas Eve. Stay warm!
