Our Journey to a Mortgage Free Home: #2

So what did we do with the mess that I showed you in the last post?

Come on I'll show you ...

First we had to mow the grass, the whole place was really grown up!

That's better, we can at least see the structure ...

Oh my ....  this project was definitely not for the faint of heart!

We hauled load after load after load of burned scrap metal out of the structure to the recycling center ... the good news ... we sold enough scrap metal to recover $1300.00 of the price we paid for the property!

The yard is mowed and the structure is cleaned out of anything that is salvageable, now it's time to ...

Hmm, I'll think I'll wait until the next entry to share that with you!

Until next time,

  1. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I am glad you had a vision - I can't imagine that I would have except for maybe the land.

How many people said "Are you crazy?" when you guys bought this! LOL

    1. gardenpat, we paid $3000 for the property. We were thrilled to get it for that as everything we could find was going for $10,000 acre.

  4. Patsy, this is a wonderful story, and so real! Yes, I think I would do something like this under your circumstances. I like tiny settlers cottages in Australia. For you, this might be similar to historic cabins. If you manage the basics, you'll feel so rich when aspects of the modern world begin to crumble.

  8. You were fortunate to have a husband who shared your vision. Mine would have laughed and said, "No, thank you!" I can't wait to see if you were able to salvage any of that or had to start over from scratch.
