Greenhouse Repair and Expansion: Part 8

Are you ready for another update on our greenhouse repair and expansion …

Here you go …

Here's where we left off in the last update!
Look closely so you see what we did next in this photo …

Do you see the 2 x 10's we attached at the top connecting the two 2 x 4's on each side (this is for support and to hang hanging baskets from after heavy duty hooks are installed) and the two half 2 x 4's on the right and left (these are supports for the front of the greenhouse)?

Here are the left and right side of the front installed.

Hubby cut the PVC purlins to the right length and glued a cap on the ends.  After cutting the 'outdoor plywood' to the right shape and size he screwed it into the end cap of each purlin.

Here it is attached securely.

This is the front with all the pieces in place and the door attached.  He screwed all the pieces into the frame on the top, bottom and middles and into the purlin end caps.

Next he turned me lose with a paint brush and I painted it (I'll get a picture of the front of it later to share).

While I was painting he went to the back of the greenhouse to check things out.  We knew we were going to replace the plywood but thought that that would be all that was needed.

What he found though, was a bit of rotting wood so down it all came to be replaced except for what you see standing.

Look at the far end, you can see the inside of the front where I painted it green.  We chose green because that's what we had on hand!  Our greenhouse is truly a green house!!!

There's more to come ...

  1. You two are doing a fantastic job! We pass Bonnie Plant Farm several times a week and your greenhouse is every bit as nice as the professionally built ones there. It is going to serve you well for years to come.

  2. Where did you buy your landscape fabric for the ground and do you love it? I am in the planning stages of a cattle panel greenhouse, but definitely want to keep the weeds out. ;)
